Jesse RAY McEachern is a photographer and multi-disciplinary artist based in ‘Vancouver’. Ray is Trans and Non-Binary and has a special interest in photographing other Queer and Trans individuals. Their favourite thing about taking portraits is being able to work with someone ‘camera shy’ and capture an image they truly connect with. Numerous people struggle with their self image, Ray wants everyone to see the beauty they have in themselves.
Ray was first trained in film & dark room photography in 2005 before being gifted a DSLR for their 16th birthday in 2006. Ray has worked shooting live events and portraits around ‘Vancouver’ for the past 15 years. Capturing all sorts of events and environments, including Qmunity’s annual youth Queer Prom for over 10 years. They have fallen in love with documenting the local Drag community which they have been fortunate to do since 2016. Ray currently works as the in house photographer at The Birdhouse, they occasionally do pop up themed photobooths, providing guests with polaroid prints to take home.
Jesse Ray Photography thrives on collaboration and supporting others through skill share and knowledge. With the opening of TINYDOG Ray plans on starting community studio days, opening up the space to photographers who may not have the chance to work in studio.
